There are 41 units using four dictation formats in Interactive Dictations:
- Partial Dictation
- Pair Dictation
- Prediction Dictation
- Dictogloss
Each dictation is preceded by an introduction and vocabulary/pronunciation work and followed by discussion topics. Pair and small-group work is encouraged. Following the discussions there is an optional writing topic and a variety of other activities, including idiom/vocabulary work, role plays, and many cooperative learning activities.
The units can take from 20 minutes to an hour. The dictations are available on a CD, read naturally by native speakers. Although giving dictation live in the classroom is effective and important, these recordings let your students hear a variety of voices and accents, and listening to recordings is useful practice for students who may be tested with recorded material.
