Options Student’s Book includes eight units of fun and engaging material, with activities to support mixed-ability learning and differentiated teaching:

Unit Topic and Video story
A video photo story, The After School Club, embeds core vocabulary to establish the unit topic, previews grammar and introduces functional language.

Vocabulary and Grammar
Vocabulary and grammar are first presented and practised in the Student’s Book, with more practice in the Workbook and online. The Grammar bank gives clear explanations and further practice for use at home or in extra lessons.

Listening and Speaking
This section offers topic-based listening and speaking skills development, with differentiated tasks. The Teacher’s Book offers full support with a wealth of notes and tips.

Reading and Writing
The main reading text in each unit is available in three versions – STANDARDBASIC and ENRICHED. Either the teacher or the student may choose the most appropriate task.

Learning for Life skills
Students meet problem solving in the form of communicative tasks and they are also encouraged to develop their creativity and critical thinking, as well as collaboration with others.

Sustainable Development Goals, CLIL and Culture
The topics in Options highlight important human values that play a major role in the development of young people: environmentally conscious behaviour, tolerance towards other cultures and nationalities, empathy for others and many more.

Exam practice
Regular practice activities and tips for the most recent international exams.

Digital options
A wealth of digital material to accompany the Student’s Book offers innovative approaches for differentiated learning in, and beyond,the classroom. Accessible on our user-friendly learning platform HELBLING e-zone or via HELBLING Media App.

 

Options Workbook (in full colour) includes a six-page Welcome Unit and 8 eight-page main Units. Each main Unit contains:

  • Activities to practise the Vocabulary presented in the Student’s Book
  • Let’s talk – further reinforcement of the vocabulary presented in the video content related to the Unit
  • Activities to practise the Grammar points presented in the Student’s Book
  • Skills pages that focus on receptive (listening & reading) and productive (speaking & writing) skills and offer options for mixed-ability learning
  • Words & phrases – a full summary of all new words and phrasal verbs presented in each unit and useful sentences to help students learn and remember in context

Options Teacher’s Book is easy to use and gives step-by-step guidance that helps teachers deliver a comprehensive lesson and provides detailed notes for supporting mixed-ability learners and differentiated teaching.

A comprehensive Introduction outlines the course approachprint and digital components and a tour of a Unit.

Each unit starts with a Unit objectives box to help with your overall planning as well as a reproduction of the Student’s Book opening spread and summary of the key VocabularyGrammar, SkillsLearning for life, and Culture covered in each Unit.
Each page of the Student’s Book is reproduced in full colour and accompanied by Step-by-step instructions with answer keys, as well as notes, to help the teacher understand the purpose of each task.
Detailed guidance is provided on how to support mixed-ability learners with Differentiation notes and ideas for Extra activities for fast finishers or those that want a further challenge. Project pages also feature Tips for fully exploiting this feature.
